Song Splinters Into Decades

November 19th, 2024 — Borden completed recently the twelfth and final installment of his annual poetical cycles, this year’s project of monthly works collected into decades, so to say—so-called after the manner of the prayers prayed on each bead of a rosary—though these are anything but devotional, though no less ritualistic, and turn on the faith one places in oneself, imperiled at the prospect of playing god.

Written, then split into ten segments—a poem apiece—set into type, eyed for errors, buried in pixels encoded to entice, snippeted with ellipses, and scheduled to go live on Jono’s official website at 3 a.m. through 3:45 a.m. on the New Moon of every month in 2024; each grouping of connected lyrics creates a chain of verses consumable on their own, individually, or collectively as a larger, linked poetic statement.

Bending sentiments intended to vary by reading, segments of this rhythmic centipede proceed to recede, bleeding into one another. A long song, as it were, for January through December which, in this case, is the next group set to arrive.

Glimpse these fruits of Jono’s labours here and here.

Moreover, Borden is at present engrossed in producing his film, a biopic of Lord Byron, Lightning in the Veins, also known as Mister Superstar, currently in pre-production, helmed by his own Ritualistic Pictures in association with others.

A gargantuan project of passionate, intensive undertaking, Jono, who penned the screenplay, is also the movie’s music supervisor and recently handled clearances for its soundtrack—no small feat. Announcements of his collaborations, including naming its executive producer, attached director, cast members, crew, budget, and locations, are forthcoming. Building anticipation is part of its intricate making. Expect festival releases leading to nationwide saturation, inundating foreign shores shortly thereafter.

What’s more, Borden published this Hallowe’en, on October 31st, 2024, his chapbook of horrors, Prologue to an Echo: Seven Tales, Jono’s ninth book overall, and to be followed next October 21st, 2025 with his tenth, Bullets in the Temple (To Open Closed Minds).

As with every of Jono’s long-form, major literary releases, both of these volumes are editions available everywhere in print and electronic formats.
